Our mission is to provide actors of all experience levels a safe place to grow and strengthen their performing skills. We also encourage participants to become involved in all aspects of ATC, including assisting students with auditioning for shows, volunteering behind the scenes, and finding opportunities with other organizations in the Columbus theatre community.

AUDITION WORKSHOP

Sunday, March 1, 9:30am – noon

Location: German Village Meeting Haus

$40 per student (25% discount for ATC members)

 

The Globe School at ATC is holding our annual audition workshop. This workshop is designed for actors of all skill levels in preparation for the March 14-15 auditions for the 2020 ATC summer season or just to sharpen your auditioning prowess. Don’t miss your shot to be in the room where it happens!

NEW this year:
– Q&A with the 2020 summer season directors
– One-on-one direction at your skill level from a veteran ATC director
– Audition tips handout

Workshop features:
– Slating – How to present yourself
– Monologue work
– Cold reading skills
– Tour of the audition room
– Supportive atmosphere

Cost: $40 per participant. ATC members receive a 25% discount.

Pre-registration is recommended to guarantee a spot, but not required.

What to bring:
– The monologue(s) you are preparing for the season auditions
– Notepad and pencil

*Note: Coaching is not only for Actors’ Theatre auditions. Anyone is invited to participate.

Four levels of instruction available:

First Timer:
– First time auditioning professionally
– Need help finding a monologue(s)

Beginner:
– Have monologue(s) but not memorized
– First time auditioning for ATC

Intermediate:
– Monologue(s) is mostly memorized
– Have auditioned for ATC in the past (may or may not have been cast)

Advanced:
– Have been cast with ATC multiple times in the past or with other professional companies
– Monologues memorized and ready to workshop

The attendees will run through their monologue(s) in their groups. The veteran directors will give feedback to each participant immediately after their mock audition. Participants will then have the opportunity to run through their mock audition a second time incorporating the feedback.

CAMPS – ELEMENTARY
(entering grades 1-5)

Location: Schiller Park Cottage

$175 per student (or 2 for $300)

Each week will have a final performance on the Schiller Park stage.

June 1-5: DISCOVER ACTING

9am – 12:30pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

Introduce your child to the world of acting! Campers will discover what it’s like to explore acting onstage. The camp will have a final performance on the Schiller Park stage on June 5.

June 22-26: KIDS IN MOTION ONSTAGE

9am – 12:30pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

This camp is perfect for kids who want to be physically expressive onstage. Learn how to walk like royalty, move like an animal, create shapes, and be seen onstage. The camp will have a final performance on the Schiller Park stage on June 26.

July 20-24: DISCOVER SHAKESPEARE

9am – 12:30pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

A fun way to introduce your child to Shakespeare! The camp will conclude with a final performance exhibiting scenes from Henry VI, Part 2 on the Schiller Park stage on July 24 prior to the North American premiere of Queen Margaret.

CAMPS – MIDDLE SCHOOL
(entering grades 6-8)

Location: Schiller Park Cottage

$175-$300 per student

Each week will have a final public performance.

June 8-12: LIFE IN THE THEATRE

9am – 5pm ($300)

Campers will get a chance to experience multiple aspects of what goes into putting on a show including acting, scenic and costume design. This full day camp culminates in a day at the Columbus Arts Festival on Friday, June 12.

July 6-10: YES, AND... NO, BUT...: INTRO TO IMPROV

9am – 12:30pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

Learn how to do improv. This camp will provide lots of laughs as campers learn the different types of improv and play improv games. The camp will have a final improv performance on the Schiller Park stage on July 10.

July 27-31: INTRO TO ACTING SHAKESPEARE

9am – 12:30pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

All the world’s a stage and here campers will get to experience the comedy and tragedy of Shakespeare’s work. The camp will conclude with a final performance exhibiting scenes from Henry VI, Part 3 on the Schiller Park stage on July 31 prior to the North American premiere of Queen Margaret.

August 3-7: SHAKESPEARE AND STAGE COMBAT

9am – 5pm ($300)

Learn Shakespearean insults and fight to the dramatic death! The camp will conclude with a final performance of scenes featuring fights from Richard III on the Schiller Park stage on August 7 prior to the North American premiere of Queen Margaret.

*Taking the Introduction to Acting Shakespeare course first is recommended but not required.

CAMPS – HIGH SCHOOL
(entering grades 9-12)

June 15-19: INTRO TO STAGE COMBAT

1:30 – 5pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

Learn how to fight on stage, safely! This physically active camp will teach students the basics of fight choreography. The camp will have a final fight demonstration on the Schiller Park stage on June 19.

July 13-17: ACTING SHAKESPEARE

1:30 – 5pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

Students will learn how to act out the words written by the world’s most famous playwright. The camp will conclude with a final performance exhibiting scenes from Henry VI, Part 1 on the Schiller Park stage on July 17 prior to the North American premiere of Queen Margaret.

August 10-14: BEHIND THE SCENES

1:30 – 5pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

Learn what it takes to run a theatre company. Work with sets, props, costumes, lights, and sound. Ideal for high schoolers who are interested in theatre but do not want to act onstage.

August 17-21: ACTING BASICS

6:30 – 9pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

Wish there was a summer camp for adults? Well, you are in luck. Here’s a class for adults interested in learning a new skill or get a refresher in what it takes to create a character and gain the tools necessary to start auditioning for roles. Participants will have a final performance on the Schiller Park stage on August 21.

August 24-28: PERFORMING SHAKESPEARE

6:30 – 9pm ($175 or 2 for $300)

Whether or not you have tread the boards in the past, this class will teach you how to handle Shakespeare like a pro. Participants will have a final performance on the Schiller Park stage on August 28.
